    生きた伝説的ブルース・ミュージシャン。50年代にシカゴの西側で腕を磨いたセンセーショナルなギタリストであり、「アイ・キャント・クイット・ユー・ベイビー」「オール・ユア・ラブ」「ダブル・トラブル」など、ブルースの名曲を次々と生み出した。彼はスロー・ブルースの帝王であり、魂を打ち砕く叫びを甘い声に内包して歌う才能を持っていた。そのスウィングの感覚は、男性版ルース・ブラウンとも評される。彼の音楽はさまざまな形へ変化していったが、あふれ出る魂を抑制しつつも完璧に表現するパフォーマンスは、現在においても「本物のシカゴ・サウンド」として語られている。
