96年に結成された、英リバプール出身の６人組ロック・バンド、ザ・コーラル。01年に、「The Shadows Fall」でデビューすると、「UKロックの新たな希望」とばかりに各メディア及びリスナーが絶賛。トラッドな雰囲気と英国ならではのポップイズムを漂わせる楽曲を、マニアックな音楽嗜好に裏付けられた濃密なバンド・アンサンブルによって繰り広げ、高い評価を受けている。02年11月に１stアルバム『ザ・コーラル』を発表。全英で40万枚以上の売り上げを記録した。03年７月には、２ndアルバム『マジック＆メディスン』を発表する。
