サンフランシスコ出身の良心的メタル・グループ。ヴァン・ヘイレンと並ぶ西海岸メタルの至宝である。切れ味抜群のギター・リフに、即シング・アロング可能な印象に残るメロディ、重厚な味わいのコーラス。アメリカン・ハードロックの象徴的テイストがすべて揃ったハイ・クオリティ・サウンドで根強い人気を有する。とくに熱心なメタル・マニアの間における評価は絶大だ。代表作は『EARTHSHAKER』（81年）、『Black Tiger』（82年）、『Open Fire』（85年）など。90年代初頭に活動休止した模様。
