    Leo Sayerレオ・セイヤー

    レオ・セイヤーの代表作と言えば、プロデューサーにリチャード・ペリー（カーリー・サイモン／リンゴ・スター／ハリー・ニルソンらとの仕事で知られる）を迎え制作された『エンドレス・フライト』（76年）である。このアルバムから「恋の魔法使い」「はるかなる想い」が全米１位に輝き、彼の人気は決定づけられた。そんなセイヤーの魅力は、ハイトーン・ヴォイスとファルセットを巧みに利用した歌唱に他ならない。甘く切なげなメロディを、切実に歌い上げる。そのヴォーカルは、時に力強く、時に優しく響き渡り、瑞々しい清涼感を残すのだ。
    またソングライターとしても高く評価されているセイヤーだが、意外にも外部のライターによる楽曲が多いことや、プロデューサーによって作風が変わり過ぎてしまう（？）ことでも有名である。
