GRAPEVINEグレイプバイン
1993年に大阪で結成されたロック・バンド。バンド名は、マーヴィン・ゲイの楽曲「悲しいうわさ（I heard it through the grapevine）」から借用している。自主制作したカセットテープが注目を浴びて、1997年９月にミニ・アルバム『覚醒』でメジャー・デビュー。1998年５月、１stフル・アルバム『退屈の花』を発表。1999年、プロデューサー・根岸孝旨（Dr.ストレンジ・ラヴ）との出会いによって、ラウドに響く歪んだギター、タイトに刻まれるリズム隊の力強さが、一層チューンナップ。結果、彼らの哀愁を帯びたメロディと文学的な歌詞が醸し出す空虚感がより浮き彫りになり、１月リリースのシングル「スロウ」、４月リリースのシングル「光について」がスマッシュ・ヒットを記録し、その２作を含む同年５月発表の２ndアルバム『Lifetime』も好評を博した。洋楽志向のギター・サウンドと飄々としつつも揺るぎないスタイル、文学的な歌詞が変わらぬ人気を獲得。2003年12月、６thアルバム『イデアの水槽』をリリース。2012年９月には、デビュー15周年を記念したベスト・アルバム『Best of GRAPEVINE 1997-2012』を発表。2014年５月、アルバム『Lifetime』の再現ライヴ『IN A LIFETIME』を行なう。2015年10月には、新曲「EVIL EYE」をサプライズ配信し、12月に高野寛プロデュースによる両A面シングル「EAST OF THE SUN／UNOMI」をリリースした。2016年２月、14枚目のアルバム『BABEL, BABEL』を発表。
