    デス・メタル界の奇才、チャック・シュルディナー（vo&g）率いる技巧派デス・メタル・バンド。初期は固定メンバーによるバンド形態をとっていたが、後にシュルディナーのソロ・バンドと化し、アルバムごとにメンバーが流動的に変わっている。93年には、元セイダスのスティーヴ・ディジョルジオ（b）、元ダーク・エンジェルのジーン・ホグラン（dr）、当時キング・ダイアモンドに在籍していたアンディ・ラロック（g）という最強の布陣で、デス・メタルの名盤に数えられる傑作『インディヴィジュアル・ソフト・パターンズ』を発表。暗黒世界の暴虐とドラマチックな叙情をパラレルに表現した音世界を精緻なアレンジで呈示している。
