60年代初期を代表するティーン・アイドル、ブレンダ・リー。彼女の人気は、今でいったらブリトニー・スピアーズに匹敵するといったところであろうか。
幼い頃よりTV番組に出演し、レコード・デビューを果たしたのは56年、何と11歳の時だ。そして、60年代に入ると「スウィート・ナッシン」「ごめんなさい」「乙女の青春」などヒットを次々と放ち、たちまちスターの座に就いたのである。カントリーとポップスをクロスオーヴァーさせたサウンドにのせ、ハスキーな声で歌うナンバーは、たちまちティーンエイジャーのハートを虜にした。——日本においても「世界の果てまでも」が大ヒットを記録。同曲は田代みどりにカヴァーされる。
60年代中頃になると、それまでのシングル志向からアルバム・アーティストへと転身し、ストレートなカントリー・ソングやロカビリーを披露。現在もカントリー・シンガーとして活動している。
