    ロード・フィネス率いるD.I.T.C.クルーの中で、若いながらも堂々たる風格を漂わせていたBig L。そのハイトーンなヴォイスから繰り出す切れ味鋭いマシンガン・ラップを武器に95年、１stアルバム『Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Danger』をリリース。多大な期待を裏切ることない、有無を言わせぬ傑作となった。——耳馴染みのよいメロディアスなトラックから、恐れおののかせるようなハードコア・サウンドまでヴァラエティに富んでいるが、それらはすべて彼のラッピンとがっぷり四つになり、直球勝負のヒップホップに仕上がっている。
    99年、弱冠24歳で凶弾に屈してしまうという不遇の死を迎えたBig L。翌年発表された２ndにして遺作『The Big Picture』にも、"男"を感じさせるハードボイルドな楽曲が並んでいた。
